Charged with Child Protection Article, Cynthiara Alona Faces 12 Years in Prison

Kapanlagi.com - Actress Cynthiara Alona, who is involved in a case of alleged child prostitution, had her first trial on Thursday (5/8/2021). In the trial, which included the reading of the indictment, Cyntiara Alona was charged with the Child Protection Article.

"Today is the reading of the indictment. The indictment is related to Article 88 jo Article 76 e of Law number 23 of 2002 concerning child protection," said General Crime Section Head of Tangerang City Prosecutor's Office, Depot Dariarma, after the trial.

According to Depot, the indictment is similar to the Article used by the Indonesian National Police investigators to ensnare Cyntiara Alona. "The same indictment as stated in the Police Investigator's Examination Report," said Depot.

Based on that Article, Depot stated that the sexy model could face a prison sentence of approximately 12 years. "The punishment is approximately 12 years," said Depot.

1. Held Closed

The trial of the case of alleged child prostitution, with the defendant being the artist Cynthiara Alona along with two of her colleagues, namely AA and DA, was finally held for the first time. This trial was held at the Tangerang District Court on Thursday (5/8/2021).

From observation, this trial, which started around 10:00 AM, was conducted in closed session and held virtually without the presence of the defendants. In the courtroom, only the Panel of Judges, the Public Prosecutor, and the defendants' legal representatives were present.

Meanwhile, the defendants watched the trial online from the detention center. "We conducted it virtually because of the Covid-19 situation. We ensured safety and held it in closed session because the victims are children," said the Head of the General Crime Section of the Tangerang City Prosecutor's Office, Depot Dariarma, after the trial.

As for the first trial, the agenda included the reading of the indictment against the defendants by the Public Prosecutor. "Today is the reading of the indictment. The indictment is related to Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76e of Law number 23 of 2002 concerning child protection," said Depot.

For the next trial, according to Depot, it will be held again on August 12, 2021, with the agenda of witness testimony. "The next trial next week will directly proceed to the examination of witnesses because the defense lawyers did not file an exception," he added.

As is known, the arrest of Cynthiara Alona began with the police officers of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police who raided a hotel in the Tangerang area on suspicion of engaging in child prostitution. The raid took place on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

After conducting an investigation, the police named Cyntiara Alona as the owner of the hotel and two other individuals who acted as pimps, namely AA and DA, as suspects.
