Continuation of Defamation Case, Vicky Prasetyo Requests Detention Suspension

Kapanlagi.com - The continuation of the defamation case involving Vicky Prasetyo was held at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (16/9/2020). In this trial, the agenda was the reading of witness statements from the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

"Witnesses from the prosecution, two children of journalists," said Ramdan Alamsyah, Vicky Prasetyo's lawyer, when contacted by phone on Wednesday (16/9/2020).

As known, Vicky Prasetyo was detained for defamation involving his ex-wife, Angel Lelga. At that time, Vicky raided Angel's house with several journalists.

In this hearing, Vicky's Legal Counsel revealed that they have applied for detention suspension. They hope that their request can be accepted by the Judges.

"God willing, hopefully. So yesterday before the hearing was closed, the judge called me and the prosecutor to the front. Well, in front of us, the judge asked us, 'legal counsel, how about the request for detention suspension? Do you still want to proceed or not?', I said 'Yes, Your Honor, I want to proceed', 'You prepare again for the guarantee from the parents', 'Okay, Your Honor, I will attach it now'. 'No, tomorrow'. It means tomorrow, this week." said Ramdan Alamsyah.

Vicky Prasetyo's Legal Counsel intentionally did not announce to the public that they are applying for detention suspension.

"Finally, on Monday I submitted all the documents and informed the prosecutor, 'Mr. Prosecutor, on Monday I want to suspend Vicky's detention'. Already, in yesterday's hearing, but I intentionally didn't publish it," he said.
