Documentary 'PULAU PLASTIK' Finally Released in Theaters, Bringing Important Issues about Plastic Pollution

Kapanlagi.com - The documentary film PULAU PLASTIK directed by Dandhy Laksono and Rahung Nasution has finally been released in limited theaters. This release was enthusiastically welcomed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, who acted as the executive producer.

"I'm really happy that it can be shown because I thought it wouldn't be possible to be screened in theaters. Because this film was completed during the pandemic. Now we are here, the situation is not as ideal as we hoped, but this film can come out," said Angga when met at Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (29/4/2021).

1. The 12th Released Documentary Film

PULAU PLASTIK is the twelfth documentary film created by Indonesian filmmakers to be released in theaters. The small number of releases raises questions. Angga Dwimas Sasongko provides an answer.

"Documentary films are not prohibited in theaters. But documentary films are not yet familiar to audiences. Documentaries are not something commercial. So not many people pay attention to them. But for us at Visinema, any form of film as long as the issue is important to us, it's the same," said the bespectacled man.

2. Worried About Plastic Waste Pollution

PULAU PLASTIK is a documentary film produced by Visinema Pictures in collaboration with Kopernik, Akarumput, and Watchdoc. This film highlights the dangers of plastic waste pollution, which is a major problem in Indonesia.

The film takes the perspective of Gede Robi, a member of the rock band Navicula, who is deeply concerned about plastic waste pollution. Together with Prigi Arisandi, a biologist, they embark on a journey to gather evidence.
