Farewell Bunda Iffet, the 'Angel' of Salvation Behind Slank and Gang Potlot

Since its early formation, Bunda Iffet's home at Jalan Potlot 3 No. 14, Duren Tiga, South Jakarta, has been wide open as the headquarters of Slank. It was there that Bimbim and friends practiced, wrote songs, and received guests for concerts.

More than just a mother, Bunda Iffet also took on the role of informal manager of Slank, such as organizing concert schedules, managing finances, and mediating when internal conflicts arose. Her firm yet loving attitude has kept Slank's journey intact until now.

In the 1990s, several members of Slank were caught up in drug use. Bunda Iffet never gave up: she accompanied the rehabilitation process, ensured they underwent strict isolation without external disturbances, and encouraged positive changes in their lives.

Since 2000, through cooperation with Dr. Aisah Dahlan, she even helped establish a rehabilitation center in Duren Tiga for young people who want to break free from addiction. The doctor is said to have cured hundreds of addicted Slankers.

Gang Potlot is not just an address; thanks to the initiative of Mother Iffet, the area has transformed into a creative village for young music lovers. Her home has become a gathering place for Slankers to exchange ideas, learn music, and hold social events. The warmth she creates makes Potlot feel like a second home for many.

For millions of Slankers across the archipelago, Mother Iffet is a second mother. The title of Mother Slankers is attached to her because she does not hesitate to greet fans warmly and considers them part of the Slank extended family.

Not only Slankers, but also senior musicians hold Mother Iffet in high regard. GIGI's vocalist, Armand Maulana, recalls how she always faithfully watched GIGI's performances alongside Slank, from the beginning to the end of the stage, and then warmly embraced him after the concert. For Armand, Mother Iffet is like a substitute for his own mother who always supported her child's career on stage.

The presence of the late one at the edge of the stage and during community activities always provided encouragement and a sense of security for Slankers. The departure of Bunda Iffet marks the end of an important chapter in the history of Indonesian music. Rest in love, Bunda Iffet!
