Kapanlagi.com - The legacy of Titiek Puspa's works speaks not only of her musical glory in the past but also about the importance of respecting copyright and royalties. Petty Tunjungsari, the daughter and manager of the legendary artist's works, emphasizes that royalties are not just an economic issue.
During the seven-day mourning event for Titiek Puspa at the PTIK Building in South Jakarta, Petty reminded the family and the public not to view royalties solely from a material perspective.
"We are not concerned about royalties in terms of economics; you must appreciate her creations," Petty asserted.
According to Petty, valuing royalties also means preserving and maintaining the artistic legacy that was created through hard work. Moreover, Titiek Puspa created songs without formal music education.
"Not everyone can create like that. In my opinion, those who compose must be more exceptional," she continued.
Petty also explained that a good royalty system is actually a way to elevate the dignity of song creators. She hopes there are no double standards in the distribution of royalties.
"We are trying to mediate, helping so that everything is not double standard, so there must be a standard," said Petty.
She even used a unique analogy to explain how important a fair system is for composers in Indonesia.
"So that we don't end up like asking for apologies while begging for credit for a pot, because there is already a place for it," she added.
As a family member, Petty admits she continues to follow the applicable regulations regarding royalties and fully entrusts them to the parties that have been trusted for a long time.
"My mother has been friends with Musica since her father’s time. So it’s like a family best friend and indeed my mother has entrusted everything to Musica, to WAMI," Petty revealed.
For her, the harmony between song creators, singers, and musicians must be maintained to create the best final result in the music industry.
"All of them are composers, singers; if there are no songs, how can they express their singing techniques? So let’s all be friends, let’s have beautiful collaborations," she concluded.
