JKT48 Challenged to Sing Dangdut with Rhoma Irama, Acknowledges Difficulty with Vocal Techniques

The idol group JKT48, known for cheerful pop music and energetic dance, must step out of their comfort zone this time. To celebrate the 31st anniversary of Indosiar, JKT48 has been challenged to perform a dangdut song with the legend, Rhoma Irama.

This challenge is acknowledged to be quite difficult by the members. The stark difference in music genres between pop and dangdut poses a significant obstacle, especially in terms of vocal technique. Helisma explains that the distinctive dangdut vocal techniques are a major homework for them.

"For us, performing it is quite different. Because we are more into pop. This is dangdut and has its own vocal techniques. Perhaps that’s what we need to learn more to enter that genre of music," said Helisma when met backstage.

However, instead of feeling burdened, JKT48 actually sees this as a fun challenge. Indah Cahya Nabilla views this opportunity as a moment to learn and develop their vocal abilities in a different genre.

"It actually becomes a challenge for us, a challenge for us. And dangdut is from Indonesia, so it’s like a pride for us and a motivation to be able to perform it," Indah said enthusiastically.

Trisha, another member of JKT48, also expressed her enthusiasm for learning new things. This collaboration is seen as a golden opportunity to broaden their musical horizons. "We are very excited because this is an opportunity for us to learn," added Trisha.

Although they do not have much time to practice, JKT48 strives to give their best performance. They want to prove that JKT48 is capable of adapting to various music genres, including dangdut, which is the original music of Indonesia.

"This is also a new color, dangdut. Combining JKT48 and dangdut. We rarely perform dangdut even though we might have done it with other musicians, but this time it's different, it's really rooted in dangdut, right?" explained Helisma.

The performance of JKT48 with Rhoma Irama and Soneta Group at the "Konser Raya 31 Indosiar Luar Biasa" is a concrete proof that music can unite different generations and backgrounds. This epic collaboration is hoped to inspire other young musicians to continue preserving dangdut music.

"But fortunately this is enough, what is it, a relief for us because it turns out that combining JKT48 songs and dangdut is really fun," concluded Helisma with a satisfied smile.
