Komnas Perempuan Objects, Threat of Criminalization Will Only Worsen Dinar Candy's Mental State

Kapanlagi.com - Dinar Candy's daring act of going out on the streets wearing a bikini finally has consequences. The DJ, known for her sexy appearance, is forced to deal with the law and even faces imprisonment. 

As previously known, Dinar Candy daringly took to the streets wearing only a bikini. The 28-year-old DJ admitted to doing it because she felt extremely stressed due to the pandemic and the extended PPKM policy. 

The current situation experienced by Dinar apparently prompted Komnas Perempuan (National Commission on Violence Against Women) to intervene. Komnas Perempuan Commissioner Siti Aminah Tardi objected to the police's decision to criminalize Dinar Candy. 

"Law enforcement agencies, especially the police, should comprehensively assess this incident and not prioritize criminal law enforcement approaches," said Siti Aminah when contacted by journalists on Friday (8/6/2021).

1. Psychological Condition

According to him, the police should consider Dinar Candy's psychological condition before declaring her as a suspect. Because what Dinar Candy did is related to the mental health issues that many people are experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The police must understand the psychological situation of DC who is currently stressed or pressured due to this pandemic. The stressed or depressed condition is affecting many people in our society, not just DC. This pressure is causing difficulties in making decisions, including expressing their opinions on the extension of the PPKM," he added.

Instead of prosecuting, Siti Aminah believes that it would be better for Dinar Candy to receive counseling to prevent worsening of her mental health.

"Prosecuting DC is not an option, as it will only worsen her mental health. What is needed is psychological support," she said.

2. Request to Stop the Case

Considering the aforementioned, Siti Aminah requests the police to stop the case. "So, by comprehensively looking at this case, it is better to stop it by using the restorative approach mechanism," she said.

As known, Dinar Candy faces a potential 10-year imprisonment sentence due to her protest action against the extension of PPKM by going out on the street wearing only a bikini. Dinar Candy is charged under Article 36 No.44 Year 2008 regarding pornography.
