Legal Counsel Regrets that the Prosecutor's Office Has Not Yet Brought Tio Pakusadewo to Rehabilitation

Kapanlagi.com - The Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of DKI Jakarta has issued a result stating that Tio Pakusadewo must undergo medical rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center. However, the investigators and the public prosecutor (JPU) have not yet brought him for rehabilitation.

Santrawan Paparang, as the legal counsel for Tio Pakusadewo, regrets this. Until now, his client is still being detained at the Jakarta Metro Police, even though the result from BNNP DKI Jakarta based on the assessment has been released since May 2020.

"In principle, our assessment also contains such content, we request that our client (Tio Pakusadewo) be transferred to a rehabilitation center. Until this moment, the investigators and the prosecutor have not yet rehabilitated Tio Pakusadewo," said Santrawan Paparang at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (20/10).

"Even though BNNP DKI Jakarta has already issued a recommendation for Mas Tio to receive medical treatment or rehabilitation," he added.

1. Not Denying Tio Pakusadewo as Drug User

However, Santrawan does not deny that his client has been a user for the past 10 years. But that is not a reason to deprive him of his right to rehabilitation.

"We do not run away from the fact that, indeed, Tio is a user. But, because it has been 10 years, he is a chronic user who has the right to rehabilitation," he explained.

2. Fight for Tio Pakusadewo's Rights

What Santrawan Paparang is currently fighting for is to continue coordinating with the BNNP DKI Jakarta and the investigators of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

"In addition to the mandate of the law, Mas Tio has the right to receive his rights, namely medical and social rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center," concluded Santrawan Paparang.
