Mark Sungkar Returns to Face Corruption Allegation Trial, Objects to Prosecutors Not Being Able to Present Witnesses

Kapanlagi.com - Former actor Mark Sungkar returned to attend a trial for alleged corruption in the Triathlon and Pelatnas Asian Games 2018 activities at the Tipikor court in Jakarta on Friday afternoon (28/5/2021).

However, shortly after the trial was opened to the public, the panel of judges immediately postponed the session, which was scheduled to hear testimony from the Prosecutor General's witnesses.

The reason is that Mark Sungkar objected to the prosecutor's inability to bring the witnesses to the courtroom. Mark Sungkar believes that if the witnesses are not present in the courtroom, it will harm him.

"So the legal advisory team requested that they (the witnesses) be present directly, that would be fair. It means that if evidence is presented, it can be done immediately," said Mark Sungkar after the trial.

The trial is scheduled to be held again on June 10 with the same agenda, namely listening to the testimony of witnesses from the Public Prosecutor.

As it is known, Mark Sungkar sits in the defendant's chair due to alleged corruption in the Triathlon activities of the 2018 Asian Games funding.

2. Enriching Oneself

Mark Sungkar, who was then the Chairman of the Indonesian Triathlon Federation (PPFTI), was charged with enriching himself.

He was charged with violating Article 2 Paragraph (1) Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption as a subsidiary to Article 3 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B and Article 9 Jo Article 18 Paragraph (1) letter B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption.
