Project Pop Reveals the Secret to Staying Solid for 30 Years

Kapanlagi.com - Lasting for three decades is not an easy feat for a music group. However, Project Pop has successfully maintained their solidarity as they reach 30 years of creating music.

Tika Panggabean stated that when there are differences of opinion within the group, it is almost always related to work matters, not personal issues.

"It seems like there really isn't any. So, here's the thing, in Project Pop we definitely focus more on discussing work. So if there are any arguments, it’s really about the work," said Tika Panggabean when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Friday (10/07/2026).

1. Differences of Opinion Only When Creating

According to Tika, debates usually arise when discussing song ideas, the recording process, performance concepts, and even the selection of the setlist for concerts.

"It’s like having different opinions about ideas, about song ideas, about recordings, about stage concepts, song selection, that’s usually what leads to a debate. Other than that, honestly, there’s nothing like that," she said.

2. Stubborn Personnel

Tika also reminisced about Yosi’s character in the early days of Project Pop. As the oldest child in her family, Yosi was known to be quite stubborn in defending her opinions.

"Initially it was Yosi. Maybe because she’s the oldest child. Yes, that’s right, among the six of us, Yosi is the oldest in her family, while we are all the youngest," she said.

"So maybe there are characteristics of the oldest child, there was a time when we thought Yosi really, in Batak language, is 'parhata sada', cannot be contradicted," she added.

3. Changes Over Time

As Tika grew older, she observed that Yosi's character changed to become wiser and more often yielded for the common good.

"But as time goes by and as she ages, and also as her wisdom increases, Yosi actually becomes more yielding. Perhaps this is typical of the oldest child. She yields more now," concluded Tika.
