Razman Nasution Sentenced to 1.5 Years in Prison, Hotman Paris 'Feels Sorry'

Famous lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea finally spoke up after his rival, Razman Arif Nasution, was found guilty in a defamation case. Instead of showing the euphoria of victory, Hotman admitted that he felt pity and compassion for Razman's fate.

As is known, the panel of judges at the North Jakarta District Court sentenced Razman Nasution to 1 year and 6 months in prison and a fine of Rp 200 million on Tuesday (30/09/2025). Responding to the verdict, Hotman Paris expressed his concern, especially since Razman is a migrant seeking a livelihood in the capital.

"In response, I feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for him. A migrant from the village like that, scraping a living in the capital, yes, has to experience such fate because he can't keep his mouth shut," he said when met at the West Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (30/09/2025).

The 65-year-old lawyer then highlighted the impact of this ruling on Razman's career and personal life. According to him, the status of a convict will make anyone think twice about using his services as a lawyer."I feel sorry for him, I just feel sorry. Especially how he makes a living, his clients, who would want to be his client, you know," he continued.

Not only about the career, Hotman also touched on Razman's responsibilities to his family. He questioned what would happen to Razman's wives after this ruling was made, considering the cost of living in Jakarta is not small.

"What will happen to his wives? Well, they need money to live in Jakarta. Yes. That's it, I just feel sorry for him," said Hotman.

Although feeling sorry, Hotman believes that the punishment received by Razman could actually be heavier when considering his actions all this time. However, he still respects the judges' decision.

"Based on his behavior, it should have been heavier, yes. But if that's what the panel thinks, then that's what the panel thinks, you know," he explained.

This feud began from a report by Hotman Paris, who felt that his reputation was tarnished through various posts by Razman on social media. This verdict marks the final chapter of the long drama between the two sensational lawyers.
