Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison, Chyntiara Alona Cries Feeling Unjust

Kapanlagi.com - Artist Chyntiara Alona has been found guilty of violating Article 296 of the Criminal Code for alleged child prostitution. For her offense, Alona has been sentenced to 10 months in prison in a verdict hearing held at the Tangerang District Court on Wednesday (8/12/2021).

Upon hearing the verdict, Alona, who attended the trial virtually, was seen crying. She felt that the trial's outcome was unfair.

"I need justice," Alona said while crying.

Regarding Alona's plea for justice, Kasman Eli, Alona's legal representative, stated that his client has always wanted to be acquitted as she believes she did not commit any legal violations as charged under the Article.

"The person in question did not commit the alleged acts, hence the request for acquittal. Because she never engaged in such acts, the panel of judges agrees. It needs to be emphasized that there was no exploitation of children by Alona," he said.

As known, Chyntiara Alona was arrested along with two other individuals, AA and DS, in March 2021 for alleged involvement in child prostitution practices conducted at Hotel Alona in the Ciledug area, Tangerang, Banten.

"I emphasize that the verdict of the panel of judges states that Chyntiara Alona has not been proven guilty of exploiting children as accused by the Public Prosecutor. The panel used the second alternative indictment, deciding that the defendant facilitated the acts committed by AA and DS," he said.

The three of them are charged under Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76 Letter I of Law Number 23 Year 2002 concerning Child Protection.

3. Initially Demanded 6 Years in Prison

Initially, the Public Prosecutor's Office demanded that Cynthiara Alona be sentenced to 6 years in prison and fined Rp200 million, with a substitute of six months in prison, in connection with a case of alleged child prostitution. After hearing the prosecution's demand at that time, Cynthiara Alona was shocked and cried.

"She (Alona) cried, shocked by the demand yesterday," said Halim Darmawan when contacted on Thursday (4/11/2021).
