Instead of displaying her sadness in front of the public, Titiek Puspa chooses an elegant way to express her pain—through song lyrics. For her, heartbreak is not a disgrace, but a source of strength to create.
"What I mean is, you young people nowadays, when you break up, you immediately post about it, so my point is, don’t air your shame, just like Eyang who also experienced heartbreak but then turned that challenge into an opportunity," said Petty.
Petty added that instead of harboring resentment, her mother even thanked her ex-husbands for being an important part of her life journey.
"Even she is grateful to her three husbands for being part of the scenario, her life episode, yes it's okay you hurt me but it turns out that it inspired her to write," she revealed.
Titiek Puspa's wise attitude is a legacy of values that her family wants to continue to uphold, especially in dealing with personal feelings and sadness.
"She is someone who doesn't easily get hurt. She can turn heartbreak into poetry, into lyrics, into songs that are ultimately sung by many people. That is an incredible strength," Petty explained.
