Tina Toon Sued for Rp 10.7 Billion for Alleged Copyright Infringement of the Song 'Bintang', Engkan Herikan Remains in His Lawsuit

Kapanlagi.com - The trial for alleged copyright infringement of the song 'Bintang' against artist Tina Toon has just been held at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court on Tuesday (31/8/20201). This hearing was scheduled for the plaintiff's replication, namely Engkan Herikan, one of the personnel of Anima band.

"Today's agenda for the hearing is replication, our replication as the plaintiff against the defendant and co-defendant," said Engkan Herikan's lawyer, Valentino, at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court on Tuesday (31/8/2021).

All parties attended the trial, including Engkan Herikan (plaintiff), Tina Toon (defendant), Sony Music (co-defendant), and also Universal (co-defendant). Valentino stated that they stick to their initial position, which is suing Tina Toon for Rp 10.7 billion for alleged copyright infringement of the song.

"In essence, in our replication, we convey that we remain firm in our lawsuit and reject all their responses to our lawsuit. The defendant one and defendant two were absent earlier, while the others were present. Sony, Universal, Wami, and Agustina Hermanto (Tina Toon) were present," he said.

"In essence, they also stick to their responses and leave everything to the court," he added.

1. Trial Continued for Two Weeks Ahead

The trial against Tina Toon for alleged copyright infringement of a song will continue for two weeks with an agenda for evidence presentation. In the next hearing, Valentino stated that they will present evidence related to the violation of the song's copyright.

"The next agenda two weeks from now is our evidence presentation, we will prove everything in the court," concluded Valentino.

2. Tina Toon Sued for 10.7 Billion

Previously reported, Tina Toon is being sued for 10.7 billion by one of the members of Anima band, Engkan Herikan, at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court. The reason is that the song 'Bintang' sung by Tina Toon does not credit Engkan Herikan as the songwriter. The songwriter's name was changed to Basia Saritha Kaban and Baros Roulette.
