Horror Film 'IVANNA' Ready to Release in July, Producer Manoj Punjabi Not Afraid to Compete with 'THOR: LOVE & THUNDER'

Kapanlagi.com - Following the success of KKN DI DESA PENARI, MD Pictures is ready to release their latest horror production. This time it's called IVANNA and is part of the Danur Universe.

The film, directed by Kimo Stamboel, features a number of popular Indonesian stars. In the forefront are Caitlin Halderman, Junior Roberts, Taskya Namya and Shandy William.

1. Not Afraid to Compete with Thor

IVANNA is set to release on July 14, 2022, just one week after THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER hits theaters across Indonesia. However, producer Manoj Punjabi feels there's no need to worry.

"Thor will be released on July 6, my prediction is 1000 to 1500 screens across Indonesia. If it enters the second week, the audience may deflate. This is an opportunity for IVANNA to get a lot of screens, we just have to see how strong this film's power is," said Manoj in an interview with KapanLagi.com at MD Place, Setiabdi area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/6/2022).

2. Not Willing to Compete with Indonesian Films

Manoj Punjabi admits he's not afraid to compete with Hollywood films. What he avoids is competing with fellow Indonesian horror genre films.

"In fact, I'm not willing to compete with Indonesian films, especially in the same genre, why should we kill each other? I hope Ivanna can go smoothly," said Manoj.

3. Difficult to Persuade Kimo Stamboel

Through IVANNA, producer Manoj Punjabi invited Kimo Stamboel to join as director. Apparently, it was quite difficult to persuade Kimo to join. Fortunately, after seeing the material offered, he agreed to join.

"It was quite hard to get Kimo to join MD. There were several offers from MD before, but none of them were interested. When IVANNA came, he became interested. With Kimo, we want to experiment and break barriers to make horror films even better. We are not satisfied with what we have achieved, we want more. Hopefully, IVANNA can bring something new again," said Manoj firmly.
