'KIBLAT' Ready to Release with the Title 'THAGHUT', Title Selection Involves Scholars - Emphasizes No Intention to Scare People from Praying

Kapanlagi.com - The production house Leo Pictures is ready to release a film titled THAGHUT starring Yasmin Napper, Ria Ricis, and Arbani Yasiz. This horror genre offering by Bobby Prasetyo raises issues about heretical teachings.

When releasing promotional materials in the form of a poster and trailer titled KIBLAT, the film received backlash from the public. When the title was then changed to THAGHUT, the selection involved scholars.

"Before changing the title, I consulted with scholars to ask if the title was appropriate for the story. Some scholars had also watched the film beforehand," said Agung Saputra, the producer, when met at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, Thursday (15/8).

1. Not Just Deciding

Seeing that his work received criticism at the beginning of its promotion, Agung Saputra was very careful in taking action. He did not just decide on what title was appropriate for THAGHUT.

"After we changed the title from KIBLAT to THAGHUT, we felt this was a very fitting title. I didn't just change the title; it really had to match the context," said Agung.

2. Not Making People Afraid to Pray

Lele Laila, as the screenwriter, stated that the film THAGHUT does not intend to make the public afraid. Because there is a message of goodness behind the terror presented.

"We are careful in making horror. It's not just about scaring people; it's not about making people afraid to pray, but rather in this film we are teaching something good that we hope can be well received," emphasized Lele Laila on the same occasion.
