The involvement of Desta Mahendra in the film Warkop DKI: ViRaLiN dOoOoNg..!! is not limited to being in front of the screen as the character Dono. Desta has been entrusted by the production house Falcon Pictures to serve as the creative producer to maintain the quality of the legendary film.

For Desta, this opportunity is a platform to apply all the knowledge he has, ranging from his educational background in design to his experience in the entertainment world. He admits to being very enthusiastic about monitoring every detail of the production from start to finish.

"The difficulty is indeed because playing a legend is challenging, but once again, my mindset is that this is, as Pakde (Indro) said, about preserving rather than duplicating," said Desta when met by KapanLagi at XXI Plaza Senayan, Saturday (6/6/2026).

As a creative producer, Desta is actively involved in technical processes such as image editing and background music filling. He wants to ensure that the final result of this film can satisfy the loyal fans of Warkop DKI from various generations.

Desta shared how he accompanied the editing team and the music arranger to align with the vision they wanted to achieve. He feels that all his skills are very much utilized in this major project directed by Herwin Novianto.

"To help guard the editing, guard even the grading, guard, uh... even the scoring is also being guarded. So I really want to... because I am someone who likes things like that," said Desta.

Not only in visual and editing matters, Desta, who has a background as a musician, also provides input for the sound aspect. He feels that his educational background in fine arts greatly assists his role behind the scenes as a creative director.

"Including visuals, I studied design, graphics, visuals, and art, so I know a little bit. So in the end, Mrs. Erika also listed me as a creative producer," he said.

Desta feels happy because this film is a place where he can pour out all his professional abilities. He hopes that his contribution as a creative producer can bring a new color without losing the original essence of Warkop DKI.

"Everything I learned during college, at Vindes, and in everyday life can all be applied here," he concluded.
