Kapanlagi.com - Indonesian Music Expo (IMEX) is holding an event again this year with the theme 'A Paradise of World Music', which will take place for four days in Ubud, Bali, on May 9-12.

The selection of Bali as the location is not a coincidence. The Island of the Gods is known as one of Indonesia's tourist destinations that is favored by foreign tourists.

“We know that Bali is a place that is already known worldwide. We want to introduce world music that exists in Indonesia to the international market,” said Franki Raden, Artistic Director and Founder of IMEX in a press conference in Blok M, South Jakarta, on Thursday (25/4/2024).

1. Attracting Interest

Through this event, world music musicians in Indonesia are expected to attract the interest of international music enthusiasts. In the last three decades, the global music genre market has reached 10 percent of the total circulation of money in the global music market, equivalent to around $6.5 billion.

IMEX will also invite world music industry players from various countries to attend, with the hope that they will be interested in inviting the performing groups at IMEX to their respective countries.

2. There are 15 Performers

The industry players include music promoters, booking agents, producers, label owners, festival directors, performing arts directors, TV, radio, online media, organization members, music associations, and foreign music artists interested in collaborating.

A total of 15 performers have been confirmed to attend. They were selected from 124 groups from all over Indonesia who registered for the IMEX 2024 Open Call. Among them are Archa (Ambon-Maluku), Agustian Supriatna Trio (Bandar Lampung-Lampung), Bellacoustic Indonesia (Palangkaraya-Central Kalimantan), Damar ART (Banyuwangi-East Java), De Tradisi (Medan-North Sumatra), Dieka (Bandung-West Java), Epo D'Fenomeno (Jayapura-Papua), Gamelan Gambang and Going Gede (Gianyar-Bali), Ino and Warnaswara (Jakarta), Kroncong Sejati (Kediri-East Java), Sasando Gong (Rote Island-East Nusa Tenggara), Tardigpada (Palu-Central Sulawesi), Walk On Water (Nias Island-North Sumatra).
