Kapanlagi.com - MALIQ & D'Essentials are ready to release a new album titled Can Machines Fall In Love? on May 30, 2024. There are a total of seven tracks in it, including 2 singles that have been released earlier such as "Intro", "Dadidu di Dada", "Aduh", "Terus Terang", "Kita Bikin Romantis", "Begini Begitu", and "Hari Terakhir".

Before the release day arrives, MALIQ presented the album to the invited guests for the first time. The MALIQ personnel, Angga Puradiredja, Widi Puradiredja, Indah Wisnuwardhana, Jawa, Lale, and Ilman Ibrahim, were present at the Hearing Session Experience at FLIX Cinema, ASHTA District 8, South Jakarta.

Can Machines Fall In Love? is MALIQ's ninth album, which went through a workshop session for almost a year starting in June 2023. A significant aspect of its creation is that the lyrics of the songs in the album were written by all six members, and the music arrangements that adorn its character are truly MALIQ style.

Widi said that the band didn't really think too much about the overall theme of the lyrics for this album. Even the selection of the music arrangements flowed naturally without any specific plans.

1. Manifestation of Experience

“We didn't really think about whether this album's lyrics would fall in love, whether it would be sad. We were all on the spot, whatever is relevant to the kids. Almost all the lyrics didn't come out raw. Surely all the kids can relate to them. In terms of arrangement, it refers to albums 1-4. This is the kind of music MALIQ is,” said Widi.

Talking about the album's naming and cover art creation, Widi commented that this is a manifestation of MALIQ's personal experience while working on the album amidst technological advancements.

“Perhaps the most exciting thing right now is how AI (Artificial Intelligence) can influence creativity, work methods, and production methods. We don't hate technology, but we consider feelings to still be the strongest way to reach the listeners and we haven't felt that technology can replace it,” explained Widi.

Along with the success of the singles “Aduh” and “Kita Bikin Romantis”, MALIQ is still collaborating with Warner Music Indonesia for the distribution of their new album. This collaboration has blossomed again after being paused in their fourth album in 2010.

“It's time for MALIQ to partner with someone who knows what MALIQ is like and, most importantly, knows MALIQ's needs. We feel that Warner Music Indonesia is suitable for our needs from a business perspective in this industry,” expressed Widi.

2. Gifts and Blessings

Turning 22 years old on May 15, 2024, MALIQ considers the success they have achieved so far as gifts and blessings entrusted by God. The band hopes to continue to grow into derivatives of Intellectual Property (IP) products that can provide a sense of value and spirit from what they have done through music.

Since holding a solo concert in May 2023, MALIQ has proven to be more productive. In addition to a new album, they have planned many things for this year.

Indah also expressed her feelings about the release of this album. "After being together for more than 20 years, bringing a pop atmosphere full of harmony and stories full of love, hope, and joy. And keeping us in the groovy emotion is a blessing. This is what we feel about this album," Indah concluded.

The Hearing Session Experience of MALIQ's new album serves as the opening event for the Can Machines Fall In Love? Experience series, which will take place from May 7 to June 9, 2024 at Melting Pot, GF, ASHTA District 8, South Jakarta.
