Represented by Piyu Padi Reborn, AKSI Responds to LMKN's Statement Regarding a 1 Billion Direct License Fine

Kapanlagi.com - The Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Composers (AKSI), Piyu Padi Reborn, responds to the statement made by the National Collective Management Institution (LMKN) regarding potential criminal or civil penalties related to Direct License in accordance with Copyright Law No. 28 of 2014.

It is known that violating this law can result in imprisonment of up to 4 years or a maximum fine of Rp 1 billion. Direct License is a licensing and royalty payment system directly between creators and users of copyrighted works.

"AKSI provides information and education to its members about the Direct License system, which is a licensing and royalty payment system directly between songwriters and users of copyrighted works," said Piyu in a press conference in the Gatot Subroto area, South Jakarta, on Monday (22/1/2024).

"This system is considered very effective, efficient, targeted, and the royalties can be directly felt by the creators," added Piyu.

1. DDL Launch

Then, Piyu announced the launch of Digital Direct License (DDL) which will be integrated with Online Single Submission (OSS), a digital-based event permit system being developed by the government.

"Through this DDL, creators will be able to directly connect with users regarding licensing and royalty payments," said Piyu.

2. Real-time Platform

DDL allows songwriters to interact directly with users regarding licensing and royalty payments. This platform operates in real-time, ensuring that notifications and royalty payments are received directly by the creators through their personal accounts.

"The most interesting thing about this DDL platform is that it is real-time, so when there are license requests and royalty payments, songwriters will receive notifications and their royalties will be received in real-time through their personal accounts," said Piyu.

3. Member Platform AKSI

AKSI asserts that this platform has standardized calculations, preventing arbitrary price determination. However, the use of this platform is limited to registered AKSI members. Nevertheless, this platform can only be used by registered AKSI members.

"In the end, each song creator who is a member of AKSI can utilize this platform to perform direct licensing," concluded Piyu.
