Whisnu Santika Completes Album Map of Feelings, Result of Sharing with Ari Lesmana

The launch of the album Map of Feelings by Whisnu Santika holds a story about the creative stagnation he experienced last year. The initial idea for the creation of this album stemmed from a deep conversation between Whisnu and musician Ari Lesmana in Surabaya.

Whisnu admitted that he felt stuck in his career until he finally decided to create a pop electronic album. A meeting at a music festival became the starting point for Whisnu to dissect his vision and mission in creating art.

"The initiation actually started around August when I performed with Ari Lesmana last year at a festival in Surabaya," said Whisnu Santika when met in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/08/2026).

"So there I was telling Ari that I was feeling stuck, like 'Wow, I think I'm really stuck right now and I need something new, and I was thinking about making an album, but everything in Indonesian, and I want to show a different side of myself,'" he continued.

After making up his mind, Whisnu then began to enter a more serious production phase. He was introduced to Lafa Pratomo, who acted as the producer to develop the initial materials."Finally, I was introduced to Lafa Pratomo. Yes, I was introduced to him, and I told him about my vision and mission like this and that, and finally at the end of December, I started bringing some materials that I had previously created, and then it was processed like that," said Whisnu.

The technical process of working on this album took a considerable amount of time until it was truly finished. Whisnu had to ensure that every emotion and personal story was conveyed well through the right musical arrangements."The process itself took about 7 months, 6 months if we're talking technically. Yes, until all the material was completed," he said.

Ari Lesmana, who was entrusted to be the producer on several songs, feels proud to be involved in this project. He admits that working with Whisnu presents its own challenges due to Whisnu's perfectionist nature."Honestly, Wisnu is a person who is very busy with his own thoughts, has many demands, but for the first time, I worked on this project as a producer on several songs. It was very enjoyable. Thank you, Wisnu Santika," said Ari Lesmana.

Even though the album work has been completed, Whisnu admits to still feeling a mix of emotions. He feels relieved but also worried about how the public will respond to the changes in his music style."Relieved and anxious. The album is finished, but there are still some materials that I am working on for the next one next year. Okay," concluded Whisnu Santika.
