Former Babysitter Nindy Ayunda Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison for Alleged Child Abuse

Kapanlagi.com - The trial for the alleged child abuse case involving Lia Karyati, Nindy Ayunda's babysitter, has just been held. On that occasion, the judges of the South Jakarta District Court sentenced Lia to 6 months' imprisonment, reduced by her detention period.

Lia herself has been detained since November 2021. Which means, she will be released in May 2022. According to Fahmi, Lia's legal counsel, the sentence imposed on Lia is a threat to domestic helpers and babysitters in Indonesia.

"She was asked to take care of Nindy's child. She was instructed on how to make Nindy's child eat, take a nap, and so on. She carried out her duties and orders, but then she was prosecuted. If all employers behave like Nindy, this is a threat to all domestic helpers and babysitters in Indonesia," Fahmi said at the South Jakarta District Court, Jalan Ampera Raya, on Tuesday (12/4/2022).

1. Questioning Nindy Ayunda's Motive

Regarding the judge's verdict, Fahmi stated that they are still considering whether to appeal or not. They were given 7 days by the Judge.

Fahmi then brought up Nindy's motive for accusing Lia of violence against her child. It was clarified that the issue had already been resolved within the family between the biological father of D, Askara Parasady Harsono, at the request of Nindy Ayunda.

"So, before this case was brought up, there was already a reconciliation and Nindy herself asked Askara to do it. Isn't it strange that she is raising this issue again?" he said.

2. Nindy is Said to Want to Silence the Babysitter

Fahmi then made a bold statement, stating that Nindy's motive for accusing Lia was because she was a key witness in a case of alleged kidnapping carried out by Nindy a few years ago.

"Nindy wants to silence Lia," he said briefly.
