Syafiq Participant of D'Academy 8 Acknowledges Dangdut as Genius Music

Syafiq also highlighted how Gen Z sometimes marginalizes dangdut. However, according to him, dangdut is one of the genius music genres.

Syafiq's statement calling dangdut a genius music immediately piqued the curiosity of the judges. Soimah, one of the judges, quickly asked for the reasoning behind that view.

In response to that question, Syafiq took an example from the song Zakiya that had just been performed. "I reflect from the song Zakia earlier, it has a dialect that, excuse me, carried over," said Syafiq. Ramzi added that the regional elements were actually strengthened in that event. "It's okay. In fact, we strengthen the regional elements here," said Ramzi.

"Like the song Zakia earlier. The 'Do' at the beginning changes before the song starts. And in the songs of Pak Haji Rhoma Irama, there are also many genius songs like Malapetaka, and Tangan-Tangan Hitam. The chords in those songs can definitely confuse someone who is still learning when they hear Bang Haji's songs," he revealed.

Syafiq continued his explanation by referring to the works of the King of Dangdut, Rhoma Irama. He mentioned the songs 'Malapetaka' and 'Tangan-Tangan Hitam' as examples of songs with difficult chords for beginners. Syafiq shared his background from Sebatik Island, where dangdut music is very prominent. However, when he continued his education in Palu at the junior high and high school levels, he temporarily switched to pop music to adapt to the market.
