Pedro Pascal Defends the Transgender Community, Criticizes J.K. Rowling's Statement on Anti-Trans Ruling

Actor Pedro Pascal once again shows his support for the transgender community. His statement has drawn attention especially after J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, celebrated the UK Supreme Court ruling deemed anti-transgender.

The ruling established that women are defined based on biological sex, thus transgender women are not legally recognized as women. Here is the response from the actor of the series The Last of Us to Rowling's statement!

Rowling responded to the decision with great joy through social media X (formerly Twitter), writing, "I love it when a plan comes together." Rowling's response triggered reactions from activist and social media content creator, Tariq Ra'ouf.

In a video, Tariq Ra'ouf compared Rowling's attitude to the evil character Voldemort in Harry Potter. He stated that Rowling feels proud for contributing to a legal decision that discriminates against transgender women. "J.K. Rowling is happy because she managed to get the UK Supreme Court to declare that trans women are not women legally," said Ra'ouf. "She is proud to have spread hate and fear against a small community that is already very misunderstood in the world."

Ra'ouf also urged allies of the trans community to stop benefiting from the Harry Potter franchise, considering that Rowling continues to receive royalties whether her books or films are read or burned. "Such disgusting and vile behavior has consequences," he added.

Pedro Pascal responded to the video with a firm comment. He wrote, "Disgusting and vile behavior is an accurate description. A brutal loser’s conduct."

Pascal himself is known as a vocal supporter of transgender rights. Recently, he wore a shirt that read Protect the Dolls while attending the premiere of the Marvel film 'Thunderbolts' in London. The phrase 'Dolls' refers to transgender women within the LGBTQIA+ community.

The actor who will portray Reed Richards in the film 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' has long voiced support for the transgender community, especially since his sister, Lux Pascal, announced that she is transgender in February 2021.
